In the 'small world' department-- Dave Smith was just looking to buy an MGBGT like your brother's... he ended up buying a corvair instead and, naturally, blew it up in less than 24 hours.
he told me he was had a bid in that auction, but I didn't know he got it... and blew it. bless good ol' drunken monkey.
it's a pity, corvair is a pretty and peculiar thing. is he planning to fix it at all? they're probably quite pricey to put back on the road, aren't they?
They sold a ton of Corvairs in the US.. they were pretty popular in the 60s and there are many places selling new/used parts for them. Corvair parts are even more available than parts for my old Valiant wagon.

Cheap-- in the US at least. He's got it in the shop right now.
I thought that the rear engine configuration and the relatively low number of cars sold made it expensive to fix.
If I don't remember wrong it also had a peculiar suspension at the back, isn't it?
oh sorry, I'll just google it.
